No time for a dog? We understand...

We know that many people would like to adopt a dog, but that their daily lives don’t permit for a pet. And we understand and respect this decision. There is no point in adopting a dog when you know you won’t be able to care for it because you work far from home, you travel for work, your landlord doesn’t allow pets, someone in the family is allergic or simply because you feel that you are not ready yet for such a responsibility. Those are all good reasons and we respect your decision. But there is a way you can help without actually taking a dog home with you. Through our organization you can actually care for a dog ONLINE.

Adopt a dog online

By subscribing to a monthly donation, you can support us in a sustainable way. With your regular contribution you’ll secure a dog’s monthly needs (food, vet visits, medicine, etc.) and keep our organization running. With your donations, you’ll help us alleviate the costs for a dog and we will be able to care for another dog who needs our support.

What do I get for my monthly donation?

With your monthly support you will receive:

A profile of your dog
The dog’s profile status will be set to “adopted” on our website and associated with your name and country as adoptee (if desired)
An update once a year (current photo, medical status, etc.)
A current photo on request (up to 3 times a year)
Should your dog be adopted in real life or should something else happen to it, we’ll notify you. You then have the option to adopt another dog or cancel any further adoptions
You can cancel your adoption at any time

How much does an adoption cost?

You can adopt a dog for as little as EUR 15 per month.

By making a monthly donation you support your dog with all he/she needs. This includes a regular supply of food, standard treatments for flees, ticks and worms as well as a yearly check up at the vet.

Small dog: EUR 15,-
Large dog: EUR 20,-

My story
When I was about 3 years old a car hit me and my leg was broken. The Fundación Riocanes saved me and operated my leg.
I gained some weight since I came here, but I blame it all on my leg. I still have some problems walking, so I can’t exercise as much as I used to on the street. Naturally, this affected the beach body I used to have.
I love to play with my friend Candela and of course with any visitors coming by. My favourite place is on top of two old plastic chairs. Riocanes offered me a new one, but I just really like that chair, I am so used to it.

My story
I might have a hurting hip and some of my teeth are already missing, but that doesn’t keep me from smiling. I am very proud of my beautiful, white fur. Unfortunately, it gets dirty quite easily. So for the photo shooting I woke up an hour early to take a long shower with an extra portion of dog shampoo. It's so white and shiny now, don't you agree?
How I got here? Well, I used to live next door, but one day my owner had to leave for travel and gave me away to a friend. Those people did not like me very much. They didn’t take care of me and left me on the street. I was desperate and when I was found by the Fundación Riocanes I had no hair and suffered from malnutrition.
Fun fact: Wendy is actually my real name. Some visitor recognized me from the time I used to live next door.

My story
When I was only 3 months old, I was trying to cross a busy street in Riohacha. I was very confused and some mean boys were even betting on which car would hit and kill me. I was terrified. Luckily Alfredo from the Fundación Riocanes overheard the boys talking, yelled some very bad words at them and took me home with him.
Today I am already 6 years old and as happy as I could be. I was given the name Trompeta because I can howl like a trompet.

My story
I too had an accident with a car when I was very young. I was found by Fundación Riocanes with a broken leg and full of scabies. I am very thankful, because I could not have survived without them.
Lately I have discovered some grey hair on my back and I have gained a little bit of weight, but hey, I am 8 years old – how much harm can it do? I still love to jump and play and almost forget about the limping that remains from my accident.
In general I like all my friends here, just Putin gets on my nerves sometimes. He always wants all the attention to himself.
